This residential structural alteration project transformed the layout of the property by removing existing load-bearing walls and installing two structural steel beams (RSJs) to create a spacious open-plan living area. Working from structural engineer calculations and in full compliance with Building Regulations, MJS carried out the careful demolition of internal masonry walls, installed temporary supports, and fitted the new structural steelwork to safely redistribute the building loads.

The installation of the RSJs allowed previously separated rooms to be opened up into a modern, light-filled living space, significantly improving the flow, functionality, and value of the home. Once the steel beams were installed, all structural works were completed, including forming the new openings, making good surrounding masonry, and preparing the area for plastering and final decoration.
