I’m very glad I reached out to MJS to enquire about repairs needed for some cracks in the wall of an old extension. Mike spent time explaining what he intended to do and followed the advice on the structural engineering report that i provided. Mike worked the days that we had agreed, which made it easy for us to plan other commitments around & overall everything went smoothly. Mike was great. He removed a section of load bearing wall from our house. After his initial visit, he wanted to double check a couple of things with the structural engineer. This came across as someone wanting to understand the details. He provided a very reasonable quote, was good at communicating and squeezed us in quickly. Mike did a very good job replacing a ceiling in our bathroom and plastering it. Taking down the original ceiling revealed an unexpected problem but he offered solid advice and kept in touch whilst I had the problem dealt with. He was polite and good humoured and very clean. I hired Mike to lay a concrete slab for a new garden room, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the initial quote to the final pour, Mike was professional, punctual, and clearly knows his stuff. Mike kindly helped with our project in our home by opening up two internal walls. He was very knowledgeable about building regulations and safety, etc., and the work was completed swiftly to a very high standard. The price was excellent, and there were no hidden costs. In fact, I initially made an error with the online payment and significantly overpaid. Mike picked up on this and refunded us immediately. It is rare to find people this honest in this day and age!!! We can throughly recommend Mike. He has done a brilliant job taking out the old flat roof of our kitchen and replacing it with a pitched roof. The room is completely transformed and is now ready for our new kitchen to be installed. He turned what was a fairly dingy room into a really nice modern space which is full of light. We really appreciated the problem-solving and creativity he brought to the project, he was always reliable and communicated well both before and during the build. Mike helped us to reinforce our living room wall (which had been knocked through at some point in the past) and took down some of our front garden brick wall. He did an excellent job, gave us a very reasonable quote, and was on top of his communication with us throughout about the job. We especially appreciated how good he was with our little puppy, suggesting to us to briefly step outside for very loud aspects of the work, and how tidily he left the room between different stages of the work.
